Geraldine Israel is a textile designer specializing in embroidery and print, notably through her collaboration with French lace house Solstiss and its New York branch. Their work on “The Great Gatsby” was recognized by the 2014 Academy Award for Best Costume Design.Alongside her design practice, Israel studied philosophy at the American University of Paris, which led her to pursue further studies in art theory at Bezalel. Now based in Jerusalem, she integrates local traditions into a practice that weaves together textile, philosophy, and memory. She is currently translating Jewish liturgical visuals from museum archives into print and embroidery.
