Family knowledge gaps are often created by the division of tasks, roles, different interests, differences in personal capabilities, technical or financial literacy, and even emotional challenges.
In emergency situations, like the death of a spouse, the absence of knowledge sharing in areas related to the family unit can cause significant problems. The consequences can manifest as considerable financial losses and operational difficulties, naturally exacerbated by the grave circumstances and emotional distress.
In the project, I studied the causes and consequences of these knowledge gaps and developed a design-based solution to help reduce them.
Key findings indicate that while many couples avoid end-of-life conversations, those who proactively engage in dialogue and documentation report significantly higher emotional well-being and a greater sense of security.
Arigim offers an accessible and experiential solution for facilitating the organization and documentation of family knowledge. The solution combines gamification principles with traditional product design methodologies. It is designed to assist in the collection, organization, and documentation of technical and emotional knowledge in order to reduce distress in times of crisis and improve preparedness and intergenerational continuity.
