"We Have God and the Ration Card"
"We Have God and the Ration Card" As recognition of us as refugees diminishes, and our identity—born since the Nakba—is under threat, the ration card (UNRWA ration card for Palestinian refugees) remains the only document that still declares: we have the right of return. This is a documentary architectural project that emerged from a personal experience in the Shuafat refugee camp, where the camera became a tool for understanding the place: its history, its present, and perhaps also its possible future. The project was born from within — from daily life, from the alleys we walk through every day, and from a clear spatial political question: In the shadow of UNRWA’s shrinking role and the denial of our status as refugees, who decides the fate of the camp? And who draws its future… if not us?
