Between Multiplicity and Order
As someone who tends to hoard – objects, materials, and emotions – I was drawn to hoarding not just as a behavioral phenomenon, but as a point of departure for design exploration. While hoarding is often seen as a disorder – excessive, chaotic – I interpret it as a desire for preservation, control, and meaning. The collection explores accumulation through textures, layers, and repetition. Inspired by soft vessels that cinch closed, the garments evoke containment and memory. Textile manipulations create visual weight, while clean silhouettes and precise construction balance chaos and calm. Monochromatic black offers a quiet, intentional aesthetic of hoarding. Materials: Cool wool, faux leather, mesh, buttons, drawstrings. Working techniques: Fabric manipulations to create new textiles, spray-painting buttons black, hand-sewn details.
