Double Vision: The Doppelgänger Motif in the Works of Chen Cohen and Adi Fluman

The doppelgänger is the “double walker” – one who moves like the other but is not the same. The figure of the doppelgänger embodies the duality of human consciousness and illuminates repressed, silenced aspects within the psyche. By examining the oeuvres of artists Chen Cohen and Adi Fluman, who engage the photographic medium in unconventional ways, this study explores contemporary and feminine manifestations of the doppelgänger – and considers the relationship between duplication, gender, and the boundaries of the photographic medium.
