Grandma’s Creative Life: A Phenomenological Study

My final project is about the creative life of my grandmother, Varda Lahav, who was a ceramic artist. During her creative years, she worked out of intuition and a connection to the material and the body – an approach which I strove to apply in my phenomenological study of her work. I edited this research into a digital book, combining photos and personal texts I wrote along the way. This book attempts to collect, describe, and organize grandma’s creative life and weave them into a story. A story that doesn’t presume to encompass and explain everything chronologically or biographically, but tries to present a multiplicity of voices, timespans, materials, and memory from a joint viewpoint – mine and hers.
