Neta Peled
GRRRL PRIDE
I’ve had enough of being silenced, our existence erased. Enough of public figures adored for their bigotry. Enough of the homophobia and transphobia that exists even among us, within our community, when another gay man speaks out in my name while he can’t see past his own dick. I’m here to shout out, to roar my disdain through unapologetic display of queer femininity. I bring to life four characters I’ve created –Bardelas, Nemera, Karakal and Leviah – in outfits of their respective pride flags, each starring in their prints, worn by girls of the community, tailored to their bodies. In these four outfits, I march in the pride parade of my girlfriends and I, while waving a middle finger in the face of straight, masculine society with color, joy, and rage. Materials: Velvet, denim, various synthetic fabrics, cattle goat and pig chrome tanned leather, PLA, gold, silver. Working techniques: Digital illustration, digital textile print, screen print, embroidery, digital embroidery, 3D modeling and printing, electroforming.
