The project presents a new perspective on urban renewal processes as a means of revitalizing the urban space. Economic profit is the driving force behind urban renewal in Israel, which means that the spatial expression of these processes is often determined by the price per square meter.
The development of Lev HaMoshava – Petah Tikva city center – has led to urban systems that develop urban interstices at their heart. Reading this space as a complex system of opportunities to balance conservation with renewal, outlines a potential for a more sustainable alternative. The project offers a new approach, one that is based on the existing financial mechanism but also sets out to revise its conditions and values.
