Pediatric Convalescent Village – Between Healing and Hospitality
Combining the concepts of “Hospitality,” and “Hospital,” the project proposes a new model for a children’s hospital, located in the heart of the Harod Valley, on the grounds of the Garage Cooperative in Ein Harod.
The design was not focused on medical treatment in its technological and institutional sense, but rather on creating an environment conducive to recovery through space, nature, light, and a sensitive human presence – supporting both the child and their caretaker.
The hospital is designed for children who do not require traditional medical treatment or intensive hospitalization, but rather medical supervision and procedures done in outpatient care settings as ambulatory care.
The original building has been conserved and is used for emergency medicine, while private hospitals, open courtyards, community squares, playgrounds, and aquatic therapy pools develop around it. This is a facility where children can experience the hospitalization period as children first and foremost – and not as patients, and have a chance to also heal their bodies through their minds.
