Oat X Out
OAT X OUT What is the function of the agricultural-rural space in the new urban field? The project focuses on the northern green buffer of Kfar Saba, at the intersection of the three moshavim: Tzofit, Gan Haim, and Sde Warburg – an area that is both the city’s edge and the beginning of a rural periphery. Instead of treating the land solely as construction reserves, the project presents an alternative model: a dynamic urban-agricultural grid that changes in response to its surroundings. The proposed grid integrates urban construction types with agricultural infrastructure, e.g., greenhouses, packing plants, and rural tourism facilities. At the heart of the proposal lies the principle of reinvestment: part of the economic value generated by land enhancement is reinvested in the development of local agriculture and strengthening the relationship between the city and the rural area. This leads to the emergence of a multilayered and differential space, where housing, agriculture, commerce, and leisure exist side by side. The project primarily serves the current and future residents of the area, but it also strives to propose a model for other transition zones throughout Israel.
