Sisterhood

When Vered decides to become a mother by herself, she turns to an international adoption agency. From a small orphanage on the outskirts of Novosibirsk, Russia, comes the answer, a baby girl is waiting for her. She doesn’t want to face the hard bureaucratic and emotional journey there alone, so she asks her close friend Ayala (who happens to be my mom) to come with her. Ayala doesn’t hesitate and rises to the occasion. Together, they go on this journey to return with one new baby girl, and one brand new mother — Because that’s what girlfriends are for. I asked the two friends to tell me about their shared journey and the nature of their friendship, and brought their story to life in a short animated film, using a mix of techniques to explore the power of female friendship at its core.. Narrators: Yuli Liani, Meirav Hazan Sound editing: Luca Vizogrod Mentored by: Hovav Oppenheim, Prof. Rutu Modan
