Shir Hadad
LeShem Yichud
Are the actions performed within the framework of rituals which take place in the Jewish tradition done consciously - or have they become a habit? For me, the role of faith is not to provide answers, but to enable an ongoing process of inquiry. Like faith, every ritual remains alive and meaningful only if it is examined anew each time. The starting point of the project is an attempt to re-examine these actions and their connection to the body, to sensation, and meaning. Against the backdrop of personal memory, I chose to focus on a ritual related to the sense of smell and to create a series of scenting tools for perfumes. The series refers to three different actions of preparation for scenting: tearing, friction, transfer, actions that allow for moments of contemplation. Materials: Silver 925, copper bars, material smelted using leftovers from my school years. Working techniques: Forging, raising, casting.
