Makom: A system that offers privacy to patients hospitalized in the ER corridor
Born from a personal experience in a hospital, this project explores the temporary and often overlooked space of corridor beds. “Makom” responds to the patient’s sense of exposure and lack of control in a public setting by introducing a portable structure that creates a partial visual barrier while preserving full medical accessibility. The system unfolds into a three-dimensional arch around the bed and stores flat against the corridor wall, allowing for easy setup by staff or the patient. The project addresses the tension between privacy and visibility, offering a new spatial approach to the relationship between the individual and the clinical environment. Advisor: Prof. Ido Bruno
