I'm sorry I had to go// The Finale
I approach every project through the lense of my drawing practice. Drawing, for me, is the beating heart of my work and through it I process and build my world. With the help of drawing, I am able to isolate myself, from boundaries, time and place, right into the grass filld island of the mute child. I am interested in the figure of the modern monk, and have been exploring him in various forms and mediums for a long time. This figure symbolizes the human condition, or the human condition as I see it. A person who jumps from place to place, unable to fully settle in. In my works, I try to represent this liminal state, this in-between space that "is not where we come from but is also not where we are going" as anthropologist Victor Turner described. Through my personal experience, I try to touch upon a collective experiences of departure, migration, foreignness and home.
