The project explores an experimental painting technique using a rotating nozzle attached to a Dremel. In the hand painting process, the paint is sprayed out through a small opening in a centrifugal motion, creating complex and dynamic patterns. The technique is applied on white shirts, exploring three-dimensional shapes that disrupt and affect the pattern. The project is centered around a small production system – a “factory” that produces shirts using this unique technique. Created through free movement, the patterns also respond to the relief features and coverage: physical disruption patterns placed underneath the textile and affect the flow of the material. The result is a one-of-a-kind material drawing, unfolding a formal-aesthetic dialogue between the machine, the hand, and the physical surface.
