“Soo-soo-sook!”: “The water-sellers’ cry on Arrakis” (Dune Dictionary Appendix)

In the arid world of “Dune,” the author Frank Herbert revives the traditional function of water merchants. Drawing on the verbal descriptions in the book, the project offers a visual interpretation of these characters, including characterization and clothing design. The visual image serves as a vehicle for exploring the question of existence in a desert world; the past reverberates through a possible future that may await us down the road.
