The Cracked Moon
I created a personal work comprised of four scrolls, each describing another tour of reserve duty of my husband during the war. Through poetic letters, I interpret the range of emotions that arose in me—love, fear, pain, anger. I write also about my children, my pregnancy, and my husband’s sudden departure—only a week after the birth of our son. Accompanying each scroll is a charcoal illustration that gives expression to the intensity of the emotion and internal tumult. The work gives space to the painful and silent voice of the families left behind.
