The Third Body
The collection that I created reflects on the profound absence and traces of presence that remain when someone you love leaves you. In designing the garments, I combined two different items, each representing two bodies or two identities, and from them, I created a third body. Throughout the creative process, I sought to respond to a feeling: What does absence feel like? What does an unseen presence look like? How does a dialogue form between a living figure and an internal one that exists only within me? I chose to work with the color white to distill a sense of quiet, an invisible presence. For me, white is silent, charged, and expansive. It doesn't demand space, yet it is always there. The contrast between white and black creates a dialogue between the inside and the outside. Between the visible and the hidden and between the self and the other. Much like the story that this collection seeks to tell.
