There was darkness | Another light
There Was Darkness | Another Light Shirel Maimon | Merri Ahava Vaknin In the beginning, there was darkness, and after it - light. The world exists in cycles, the natural flow of time, day-night-day, sun-moon-sun. But lately - disruption. The balance has been broken. Light pollution steals the night’s power to heal. From this, the project was born - "And There Was Darkness | A Different Light" a call to design in a different light. In a pristine, open desert landscape, around the settlement of Merhav Am, we envisioned a circular system of focal points, attuned to light and time. Ripples of artificial and natural light, of human connection to the environment, offer a new experience of community and hospitality. Open, breathing structures, shaped by the cycles of life. A circular framework that invites presence - not control. Places, sometimes permanent, sometimes temporary, pulsing with the rhythm of the land. Design that grows from listening to nature, honoring darkness as a resource - not as the absence of light.
