Thread of Memory
This project draws inspiration from a childhood story about a large rug that was once laid out in the heart of Kabrī village, where people would gather daily — to talk, share, and simply be together. Over time, the rug began to unravel thread by thread, gradually fading from sight. In my imagination, its quiet disintegration came to symbolize the erosion of identity, belonging, and collective memory. I created a fashion collection of five looks, incorporating denim alongside authentic, used rugs embedded into the garments themselves. Through deconstruction, exposed seams, and deliberate fragmentation, I aimed to express the tension between connection and disconnection, presence and disappearance. Rather than reconstructing the past, the collection offers a contemporary visual narrative — where memory is not static but alive, reactivated through the body and material. Materials: Used rugs, denim, cotton threads, organza Techniques: Rug integration and stitching, fabric printing
