Unhealed
My final project mainly talks about the psychological burden we carry in our bodies, and the way we deal with this burden daily. I translated this weight into physical presence through designing clothes and footwear that characterize the feeling of gravity and load on our bodies. I visualize the body crumbling under pressure, I feel like a tank that is filling up constantly until it tears. Leaks start appearing and they reveal what is happening within our souls. Using free form draping I rotated and resembled tailored garments on the body until they became heavy, hanging and descending. I recreated patterns that focus on the mass around the body’s curves and in other pieces I made the body fade within them, the shirts wrap around one another as they shrink and expand. The feet are swollen, each step and every movement they make leaves a mark Materials: Cotton, wool, synthetic fabrics, TPU 90A MJF, stainless steel. Working techniques: Pattern making, draping, 3D printing, coffee dyeing, bleaching, ink.
