What is Aura? The Aesthetic, the Mystical, and the Mundane

This project explores the historical use of objects for ritualistic purposes.

By examining the uniqueness of artistic and religious objects, it asks: How do objects speak? What do they tell us? And how does the dialogue between humans and objects elevate or diminish our spiritual state?

Through a look at animism and a transition to the modern and postmodern crisis surrounding the object, the project reconnects the industrial object to animism and aura in a post-digital, post-real era. The goal: to give voice to the object which has been severed from its origins, and to rediscover its connection to ritual.
