Zenith ("Farewell Zeros")
Mentor: Itay Laniado
Sometimes, all it takes is to look up and remember – we are small, temporary, and no one in the universe really pays us any attention.
Zenith is an imaginary point located directly above the viewer’s head, on the vertical line leading from the core of the Earth outward. This point serves as an imaginary axis of movement, inviting the viewer to “travel” from their perspective in the here-and-now to the edges of the visible universe.
The exhibition allows viewers to simultaneously experience an inward gaze at their physical location on Earth, and an outward gaze towards infinity. The various viewpoints along the Zenith axis are projected onto a glass cube, which combines the representation of these perspectives with everyday scenes here on Earth.
The project explores the tension between the experience of everyday life and the cosmic understanding of our place in the universe. Through a combination of visual imagery and contemporary technology, it sets out to examine our emotional response as we face our place – and perhaps our insignificance – in the grand scheme of things.
